About Katie
Namaste
Katie began practicing yoga in her late teens and although she valued the peaceful feeling at the end of class, it took a long journey of dedication and commitment to fully appreciate the real practice of Yoga.
In her 20’s Katie practiced yoga on and off, whilst living and working in the particularly challenging world of finance in Singapore. Long and demanding hours, constant stress and her deteriorating back condition (scoliosis), resulted in an unhealthy lifestyle.
Whilst living life to the full, to try and cope with these pressures, little did she know that this chaotic existence would exacerbate her stress levels and in turn, her scoliosis.
Eventually, unable to walk unaided, or to work, she was forced to ‘give in’ leaving her anxious and depressed.
At 19 years of age, Katie had already refused the very frightening and serious surgical option. Now having been told that there was little more that could be done for her back, she was left with nothing more than an array of mind-numbing prescription drugs ~ it was time to make a change.
After some much-needed soul searching and despite the concern of her family and friends, she decided to head back to South East Asia, with the help of a faithful rucksack (on wheels), but this time, there was a very different plan ~ to self-study her fearful mind, and work with her body.
Katie began her journey by studying Yoga Philosophy. This led to deepening her practices in Meditation and Breath Work, whilst gaining some physical strength through the practice of Asana (yoga postures). She was encouraged to find a sense of returning back home ~ to herself.
After long periods of practice and self-study, Katie lived and learnt with some of Asia’s greatest teachers. Her mind was becoming quieter, her physical body stronger, and her awareness deeper.
She was encouraged to continue to practice, and study, all aspects of Yoga at depth, in some of India’s most well-known Ashrams and places of study.
After much time and deliberation, Katie felt she had finally found what she truly believes is her calling in life, through the teachings and compassion of Yoga. Not only was she finding her very own self-healing path, but was now encouraged to bring Yoga to everyone, no matter at what stage of their lives.
Now, having been accredited with over 1,700 official hours of teacher training over the last 14 years, Katie continues to study, teach and offer Yoga therapy full time. A huge array of students of all abilities, globally, are drawn to her unique teaching style, blending compassion, expertise, and awareness.
Today, Katie enjoys teaching mainly private bespoke yoga, building strong relationships and trust, to be able to deliver a variety of experiences, tailored to the exact needs of her clients.
Corporate Yoga packages are a particular feature of her work, and with the help and support of some wonderful associate teachers these unique packages are offered in person and online globally.
Group ‘drop in’ classes, workshops and intensives, for beginners and teachers alike are an important part of her teachings. In addition, her Yoga Nidra sessions have become hugely popular, with over 600 viewers both in Guernsey and online.

She can be heard regularly on air with BBC Radio across the Channel Islands, where she teaches all aspects of yoga, including breathwork & seated postures.
Her passion of bringing Yoga to everyone, no matter at what time of life, also feature in a large selection of magazine and newspaper articles.
Making sure her clients have all the equipment they may need, Katie’s online Yoga store offers a comprehensive range of products which are ethically sourced directly from India and Thailand.
Katie credits the lifestyle of Yoga, to changing her life for the better. Since meeting her husband in India, Katie and Sanjiv now base themselves in Guernsey, and four years ago, were delighted by the arrival of their daughter Amaya, and more recently their son Aditya. One of the biggest challenges Katie admits, was adapting her practice to living in the west, and now with a family, this meant working through some of the hardest of transitions.
However, this is where Katie really felt she embodied the practice of Yoga; by learning to sit with sensation, create a deeper awareness and sense of self-compassion, leading to a much more balanced and happier lifestyle.
In addition to Katie’s Yoga training in Hatha Yoga, Katie has also specialised and taken extensive additional training (gaining registered YA accredited hours) in Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Restorative Yoga, Yoga for Back Care, Yoga for Scoliosis, Pre & Post Natal Yoga.
Katie has also been fortunate to attend a huge array of retreats and workshops during her studies of Yoga, ranging from Ashtanga Intensive’s, Adjustments in Yoga, Advanced Practice of Yoga, Anatomy applied in Yoga, Philosophy of Yoga, Mindfulness, Thai Yoga Massage, Ayurvedic Yoga Massage (Diploma level 1 & 2), Teaching and applying Meditation, Advanced Pranayama, Yoga Sequencing, Transformational Breathing for Life (breath work), Breathwork for Transformation and Change.
