Old Ways Will Not Open new Doors

“Don’t stare at the closed door for too long ~ you will miss the window opening”

Daily I get asked; What is Yoga?

Surprisingly, it is not just for the super flexible, model aspiring, ex gymnasts turn ‘Yogis’.

Nor is it a fast track for anyone wishing immediate or a quick short cut to flexibly, strength and peace of mind.

Yoga is a doorway to the journey of self enquiry; it is a lifestyle, a life long practice, a tool for tuning the attention inwards and observing and noticing that the voice that chats away in your head; is often offering a completely untrue rather critical point of view.

There are reasons for this voice, yes; however it is of no use when it dibilitates us and forms a constant negative stance and lacking feeling of self worth.

Recently, I have noticed more and more of my students struggling to offer themselves the compassion they would offer a loved one.

Yoga allows us to slow down to get strong, to slow down to notice and observe rather than reacting to the constant chatter.

No one is perfect. I started my studies many years ago in Yoga to observe a little more of what I thought to be ‘me’. Simply because that voice was overbearing.

The study of yoga a constant practice and continued study. I myself feel many moments of insecurity, self doubt and the and plain old ‘I’m not good enough’, at times – we all do.

However with the tools and door to Yoga, it is a little easier to find some stillness, and offer the compassion we truly deserve for simply doing our best.

There are no shortcuts, there are no fast track lanes, we just need to show up and do what is available to us at that time.

Yoga really is for all. It is time for you to open the door inwards 🙂
