Introducing Aditya
Thank you so much for all your kind messages following the recent arrival of ‘Aditya Anthony Kalagi’.
We are settling into a new routine once again, and apart from the harsh reminder of sleep deprivation and new noise levels! Are doing well. We have a lovely support network, and have found it easier this time around to surrender to the ever-growing changes that come with a new baby, with more ease and less resistance this time, making (so far) our family of four with dear Aadi, a very blessed place to be!
I was so fortunate to experience birthing little Aadi through a wonderful water birth, just how I had hoped, and I was extremely grateful to once again draw from my practice…. (I appreciate this may seem a strong statement to make, certainly for those who have gone through the various forms of childbirth!!) But as my physical practice was not so available to me during this pregnancy, my Yoga Nidra was a game changer!
I’ve practiced Yoga Nidra, now daily, from a 10 min to a 60 min practice for over 3 years, and the benefits continue to astonish me. Being able to withdraw inwards, to truly connect, physically, mentally and indeed directly to my nervous system empowered me immensely, from being 2 weeks ‘overdue’ and feeling an array of mixed emotions, to childbirth and being able to find a space within me, a safe space, a sense of trusting and knowing that my body is capable of truly wonderful things.
Within the 6 hours of our childbirth, I closed my eyes and didn’t speak, just a few comforting words from my midwife and Sanjiv, and the rest was just me and Aadi, a whole load of affirmations and breathing techniques and beyond all a connection, probably unlike any other. I’m not sure Sanjiv has ever been blessed with 6 hours of silence from me!
So as the days are currently long, I know they are short in many ways, and I am practicing gratitude daily, after all, I do have a lot to be grateful for! So once again, as I enjoy some very gentle movement back in my body, and my daily Nidra as part of my self-care, my credit to Yoga is stronger than ever.
